Schema ST4 is a XML-based editing system for technical writers. It allows you to create topic-oriented, modularized documentation. For translation Schema ST4 has an export and import interface. It allows the export of new or modified contents for translation in XML format.
Settings for Schema ST4 XML in SDL Trados Studio
For the translation of Schema ST4 XML files in SDL Trados Studio, a specific file type is required. In this file type is defined, which parts of the XML file will need to be translated and which parts need to be protected. The file type definition for Schema ST4 XML is available as a free download in the SDL AppStore. With just a few clicks it can be imported into the options of SDL Trados Studio. After the import, SDL Trados Studio recognizes the Schema ST4 XML files and automatically selects the correct file type definition. The project preparation and translation then takes place as usual. After the translation, the translated XML file can again be imported into Schema ST4. The translations can be approved and the translated documentation can be exported.

Customizing and extending the XML settings
The XML settings can be adjusted and expanded if necessary. For example, if there are user-defined XML elements or attributes, which are supposed to be translated or not. Another option is to create a custom style sheet to show a real-time preview of the document during the translation process.
